Today we will be reviewing the modern story that has perhaps had the greatest impact on the show's history, The Day of the Doctor, the 50th anniversary special. As usual, spoilers will be present in this review.

Season 16 starts off wonderfully with The Ribos Operation, the brilliant opening story to The Key to Time series.
In most rankings of Doctor Who episodes, The Talons of Weng-Chiang often ranks among the greatest episodes. Sadly, I found the abundant racism to truly be a hinderance to my enjoyment of this serial.
I've heard some really great Fourth Doctor stories by Big Finish and some not so great ones. Sadly, this opening to The Fourth Doctor Adventures falls into the latter category.
This episode reunited the Fourth Doctor and Jago and Litefoot on audio for the first time ever. I was sadly disappointed with this episode. John Dorney has written some of my favorite stories in any medium like Absent Friends from Doom Coalition 3. Sadly, I felt that this episode wasn't quite as good as some of his others. That said, not every episode by a writer can be great, and this episode certainly had some good elements. The number one thing I enjoyed in this episode was Jago. I've never been a fan of his and Litefoot's stories, but with episodes such as this, I have started realizing that they are enjoyable characters. His speaking pattern is very unique and Dorney did a good job capturing it. There is a bit of a nice emotional scene at the end of the episode that was reminiscent of some of Dorney's other, more emotional works. That said, this episode was rather forgettable. The only really memorable thing was the emotional ending, but outside of that, this felt a lot like a typical Doctor Who story in Victorian London. Overall, this was a decent, yet sadly forgettable episode. In Big Finish's second adventure with the Fourth Doctor, the Doctor and Leela arrive at the home of an old companion and we see (or rather hear) some wonderful characterization of Four.
Once again, this review will have full spoilers for this story and the previous story in The Lost Dimension. Hence, read at your own risk.
In this story from the Fourth Doctor Lost Stories Box Set, the Doctor and Leela are thrown into an expedition to South America and are led on a wonderful quest across the world that was a delight to listen to.
One of my favorite Classic Who episodes, I decided to read the novelization for my first Target book and I was not disappointed.
